On January 8, 2018, the ceremony of kicking off GAC Motor Yichang Project & 2018 “Major Projects Launch Month” was hosted in the Auto Industry Park, Xiaoting District, Yichang, Hubei. 

    Covering an area of ~93.3 hectares and with the planned aggregate investment of over 3.53 billion RMB and the yearly output of 200,000 units, the project will mainly be used for the production of GAC Trumpchi Class A and B products, and introduce such models as sedans and SUVs. 

    About 300 persons attended the event, including Zhou Ji, Member of the Standing Committee of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Yichang Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Yichang City, Zhang Jiasheng, Deputy Secretary of the Yichang Municipal Committee and Mayor of Yichang, Hu Zhili, Secretary of the Xiaoting District Party Committee, Feng Xingya, President of GAC Group and Chairman of the Board of GAC Motor, Wu Song, Executive Vice President of GAC Group, Yu Jun, Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of GAC Group and President of GAC Motor and other representatives of dealers, suppliers, media and relevant organizations.

    Yichang Project is another GAC Group’s “smart manufacturing” benchmark factory characterized by high efficiency, good quality, energy conservation and environmental protection.     Yu Jun, Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of GAC Group and President of GAC Motor gave introduction to Yichang Project. He said: “Yichang Factory is a vehicle production base of GAC Trumpchi in central China, representing an important practice of GAC Trumpchi to deepen capacity layout and enhance the core competitiveness in all all-round manner. GAC Trumpchi will fully implement the new development philosophy, comprehensive advance the construction of Yichange Factory and strive to commence production as of June, 2019, making it another world-class smart manufacturing benchmark factory of GAC Trumpchi.”

    Hu Zhili, Secretary of the Xiaoting District Party Committee expressed: “The kick-off of GAC Motor Yichang project is the result of mutual respect and sincere cooperation between Yichang City and GAC Group. It is of great significance to promote the development of Yichang Automobile Industry and accelerate the industrial transformation and upgrading of Xiaoting District. As the location of the project, Xiaoting will cherish the hard-won cooperation results, and take the project as the No.1 priority. We will spare no efforts to provide the best service, good policy, sound legal environment, honest human and stable social environment for the project construction so that the project can be completed, ramp up to full production and make profit as early as possible. ”  

    We rely on the superior industrial foundation and best development opportunity and build the production base of GAC Motor in Yichang. It will be helpful for the formation of GAC Group’s overall development pattern of resource sharing and multiple-point collaboration, refueling the high-speed development. 

Adhere to Innovation-driven and Build Another All-new Smart Manufacturing Benchmark Factory

    The project of GAC Motor in Yichang is a vehicle production base of GAC Trumpchi in central China, boasting the production and design capability of traditional vehicle and new energy vehicle. It’s planned as the “smart manufacturing” benchmark factory characterized by high efficiency, good quality, energy conservation and environmental protection.

    It is known that Yichang Factory will seek breakthrough innovation by using the existing resources of GAC Group and GAC Motor and based on the construction experience of Guangzhou Factory and Hangzhou Factory: expand the workshop of stamping, welding, coating and general assembly and build the synthetic resin workshop and the corresponding support facilities; introduce the world’s leading process and equipment, fully automatic welding production line, high-speed pressing line and deepen processing; in the meantime, we will consider the production and design capability of new energy vehicle. Focusing on quality and returns, we will enhance the efficiency of production factors, further reduce production cost, present Yichang factory as the smart manufacturing benchmark factory featuring automatic production line, intelligent equipment, logistics information technology, visual information and ecological manufacture. Besides, we will introduce a number of star models of sedans and SUVs. 

Presence of Trumpchi Star Model Lineups at the Ceremony

    On October 31, 2017, Yichang People’s Government and GAC Trumpchi co-sponsored the roadshow for Yichang’s Industry Park of Automobile Parts and Components. The premium roadshow will help attract investment for the industry park, help build the industry cluster and substantively push forward the construction of GAC Trumpchi factory in Yichang. So far, about 20 suppliers have confirmed investment intention. Besides, some suppliers have conducted in-depth negotiations with the local government and decided to but land to construct factory. The industry cluster is taken shape.

    Relying on lean production and standard operation, GAC Trumpchi constantly provides quality product. In 2017, the aggregate yearly sales exceeded 508,600 units, a significant growth of 37% year on year, far higher than the average industry growth. GAC Trumpchi is well recognized for its world-class quality and premium smart manufacturing strength.

    Following the completion of GAC Motor (Hangzhou) Factory and commencement of GAC Motor project in Yichang, Xinjiang factory also commenced production in the 1st quarter of 2018. The construction of “smart manufacturing” benchmark factory will forcefully promote GAC Trumpchi’s capacity optimization and expansion, laying a foundation of GAC’s self-owned business development and further enhancement of production and sales.
