GAC Group issued a statement on July 9, approving of the AH8 model project between GAC Aion New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd., its wholly-owned subsidiary, and Huawei. The AH8 model is the first medium and large intelligent pure electric SUV jointly developed by GAC and Huawei. It supports L4 automatic driving and will be put into mass production by the end of 2023. The total investment of the project is nearly 800 million yuan.

According to the strategic cooperation agreement signed by GAC Group and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., both parties will jointly define and develop a series of future-oriented intelligent vehicles equipped with Huawei’s full-stack intelligent vehicle solution based on the new-generation intelligent car digital platform built by GAC’s GEP3.0 chassis and Huawei’s CCA (computing and communication architecture). The intelligent car digital platform jointly built by both parties will be developed in a platform-based way and derive a number of models.
