On June 5, 2020, in order to popularize hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) in China, six companies with the same philosophies, i.e. China FAW Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Motor Corporation, Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd., Beijing Automotive Group Co., Ltd, Beijing SinoHytec Co., Ltd. and Toyota Motor Corporation, signed a joint venture contract, under which "United Fuel Cell System R&D (Beijing) Co., Ltd." was established. The main business of the company, invested by the aforesaid companies together, is the R&D of fuel cell system for commercial vehicles in a bid to contribute clean and eco-friendly mobile travel in China, which mainly relies on Toyota and SinoHytec.
